Dear friends, today is the North American launch day for my new book, FIRST LAW OF HOLES: NEW AND SELECTED. It is a large (250 pages) collection of brand new pieces and “greatest hits” from my previous books over the last 14 years. The publisher is Dzanc Books. The first review is in!

To celebrate my launch today, below a prompt directly from a story in the book.

HOLE PROMPT:

Prompt: Write a story about a character who is coping with some kind of “hole” in their life. Alternatively, write a story about a character dealing with a hole in something they depend on (such as the roof of their home).

Don’t make the story maudlin. Fill it with funny and/or unusual moments, so that the reader can ‘sense’ the character’s hole, rather than be told it directly. Prompt words: moon, rhinestone, stretch, circular, rain.
