15-Word "Memorable New Year's Eve" Story Contest!
The contest will be open for only 1 day (today!) and the winners will be published on January 1st! Here is the idea: Write a 15-word (or less) story about a peculiar or memorable New Year’s Eve (fictional or real). Surprise and startle us.
One of my most vivid memories of New Year’s Eve is of being on a date in my early 20s with a mercurial man I was way too fond of and jumping off a 3 foot wall in high heels to impress him. I permanently hurt my lower back via that silly maneuver, and for this reason alone the event is memorable! At the same time, I experienced an epiphany: That I would do anything for love! A terrible and wonderful realization, all at once. In that way, I suppose it was a perfect New Year’s Eve.

New Years Eve, 1981
Dare me to do it, I said, searching his nut brown eyes. Smiling, glowing— jumping.
